Our Three Predictions For Birmingham City vs Lincoln City
- First Prediction: Birmingham City To Win – 11/25
- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 11/10
- Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 21/20
First Prediction For Birmingham City vs Lincoln City – Birmingham City To Win – 11/25
Birmingham head into this game with a nine point lead at the top of League One. They suffered a minor setback in the last fixture when they lost 3-1 against Bolton Wanderers at the Toughsheet Community Stadium but are expected to bounce back here. St Andrew’s has become a fortress for Chris Davies’ side this season, winning 14 and drawing three of their 17 home games. They’ve won their last six in front of their own supporters conceding just once in the process.
Lincoln have been difficult to predict this season but there’s no getting away from the fact that it’s been a disappointing second half of the season thus far. Having been in the play-off positions as recent as December, they now sit 12th, 12 points off the top six. The Imps suffered a 4-3 defeat away at Barnsley last weekend but did recover on Tuesday night to ease past Crawley Town 4-1. That said, just four victories since Christmas shows just how inconsistent they have been.
Second Prediction For Birmingham City vs Lincoln City – Both Teams To Score – 11/10
Birmingham have been strong at the back in recent weeks and they kept five successive clean sheets before Tuesday defeat at Bolton. They also have the best defence in the division by some distance, conceding 22 goals in 33 games. However, they have conceded in both their previous meetings with Lincoln this season, once in the league and once in the FA Cup.
Lincoln seem to have found their goalscoring boots over the past few weeks. They struggled in front of goal at times this season but the arrival of James Collins in January has given them a proven goalscorer to build their attack around. They’ve also welcomed back top scorer Bailey Cadamarteri from injury whilst young James Gardner looks a real threat from the bench. Having found the back of the net 10 times in their last four games, they’ll be confident of doing the same here. However, Michael Skubala’s team are also vulnerable at the back and have kept just two clean sheets in their last 10 league fixtures.
Third Prediction For Birmingham City vs Lincoln City – Over 2.5 Goals – 21/20
Games involving Birmingham have been relatively low scoring as of late, thanks in part to their excellent defensive record. In fact, only 12 of their 33 games have produced three or more goals, which is the joint lowest in the division. However, they will be looking to make a statement after a rare loss and the return of Jay Stansfield adds an extra attacking threat to their front line.
Lincoln’s excellent goalscoring record over the past few weeks means that the Blues may need to find the net at least twice to stand any chance of picking up the three points. Four of the Imps’ last five games have seen at least three goals, which includes five on Tuesday night and seven last weekend at Oakwell.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head
Birmingham have been by far the best team in League One this season, although their 18 game unbeaten run came to an end on Tuesday night against Bolton. They also drew 0-0 away at Reading towards the end of last month, although their 1-0 win against Wycombe Wanderers last weekend temporarily extended their lead at the top of the table to 12 points. Chris Davies’ side have also secured a place at Wembley for the first time since 2011 when they beat Bradford City to reach the EFL Trophy final.
Lincoln sit comfortably in mid-table heading into this game and enjoyed a morale boosting 4-1 win over Crawley Town on Tuesday. This followed a 4-3 defeat against Barnsley last weekend, a game which saw the Imps launch a late comeback before ultimately falling short. A 1-0 home loss against struggling Burton Albion at the end of last month showcased just how unpredictable Michael Skubala’s team can be.
This will be the third meeting between the two this season, with Birmingham winning both. The Blues earned a 3-1 victory at the LNER Stadium in October in what was their first clash in 20 years. They followed this with a 2-1 triumph in the FA Cup third round in January, although Lincoln arguably were the better team on the day. The Imps haven’t beaten the West Midlanders since 1911.
