  • 2nd prediction: Under 2.5 goals in the match
  • 3rd prediction: Both teams to score – No

1st prediction for Sheffield United vs Leeds United: Sheffield United to win or draw – 17/20

This is an incredibly difficult game to predict; both sides have had fantastic season and are going well in their bids to return to the top-flight, with both sides having the title in their sights. This is a huge game to that end, with the winner ending the matchweek at the top of the table. Should Leeds take all three points they will find themselves five points clear, which would put them in the driving seat for the title. Sheffield United will be a stern test though, and would find themselves a point clear with a win. While Leeds have the league position advantage, they may struggle here for a number of reasons. Sheffield United are fantastic at home and tough to break down, and they will use the atmosphere and local rivalry to their advantage. Leeds also struggle against top sides with resolute defences, as evidenced by their underwhelming draw at Burnley. That being said, if you’re top of the league you can’t be counted out of any game, so they could get a result. Ultimately though, if there’s one team that can stop Leeds, it’s Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

2nd prediction for Sheffield United vs Leeds United: Under 2.5 goals in the game – 18/25

This will be a fascinating match between two of the EFL’s best teams, but that won’t necessarily translate to goals. We’re predicting this game to be quiet in both boxes, with potentially the odd goal settling it. Sheffield United are notoriously difficult to break down at home and defend very well, with Bramall Lane something of a fortress this season. Once they get in front they very rarely let a lead slip, and this game will be know different. The Blades know their best chance of a win is through the ugly work rather than free-flowing football, and stopping Leeds from playing their football and getting the fans on side will be a key part of their game plan rather than going all out attack. Leeds may also struggle in front of goal, contributing to this prediction. As discussed previously, they often struggle breaking down the top teams away from home and their striking options are often underwhelming, which is their main are of fault. If they have an off day in front of goal, it may be a quiet game.

3rd prediction for Sheffield United vs Leeds United: Both teams to score – No – 17/20

This prediction is pretty similar to the last two. Sheffield United know they need a win to overtake Leeds and move top of the league but they will know a key part of doing that is keeping Leeds out rather than their own attacking work. It wouldn’t surprise if they get a goal in front after a quick start and shut up shop for the rest of the game, putting all the pressure on Leeds. Chris Wilder will be hoping for another defensive masterclass where Leeds’ attacking talent is kept quiet, which will severely limit their chances of a win. Similarly, if Leeds get in front they may sit back and preserve their lead, especially being the away side. This is very much a ‘must not lose’ game for them as a loss would hand the momentum to their opponents.  Expect much emphasis on keeping attackers out of the game here; whoever takes the likely few chances will probably come out on top on Monday night.
