Our Three Predictions for Notts County vs Tranmere Rovers

  • First Prediction: Notts County to win – 11/25
  • Second Prediction: Over 2.5 goals to be scored – 61/100
  • Third Prediction: Both teams to score – no – 19/20

First Prediction for Notts County vs Tranmere Rovers – Notts County to win – 11/25

Whilst it seems an obvious prediction considering the 26-point gap between the two sides, Notts County have to win this game f they are serious about going up automatically. They have dropped points in their last two games and subsequently sit one point behind third-placed Doncaster Rovers, in the last automatic promotion spot. Before Stuart Maynard’s side lost at the hands of Port Vale, they went on a six-game unbeaten run and need to pick up that run of form again to pick up all three points against struggling sides, such as Rovers. County also have the sixth-best home record in League Two, with Tranmere holding the worst away record in the division this season. The odds are in the hosts’ favour, and for a reason, as they look to get back to winning ways and push on for promotion.

Second Prediction for Notts County vs Tranmere Rovers – Over 2.5 goals to be scored – 61/100

Nigel Adkin’s side have the joint-worst record in terms of goals conceded in the fourth tier this season and on average have conceded 1.58 goals per match. On the other hand, their opponents have the third-best goal-scoring record and are only behind league-leaders Walsall and promotion pushing Chesterfield in terms of goals scored. It would be hugely surprising not to see the hosts score, considering they have scored in all but seven league games this season. They have also scored more than two goals in one game on 13 occasions, with an average goal-scoring record of over 1.5 goals per match. With the away side’s poor defensive record and the Magpie’s impressive goalscoring record, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if this game contained goals.

Third Prediction for Notts County vs Tranmere Rovers – Both teams to score – No – 19/20

Even though we have predicted over 2.5 goals, these goals are unlikely to go the way of Tranmere. They have the worst scoring record in the division, scoring only 22 goals in 31 games, which is worse than both Carlisle United and Morecambe, who are both sat in the relegation zone. To add salt to the wound for Rovers, County have a good defensive record and have only conceded eight more than what Tranmere have scored, with 30. Tranmere have failed to score on 14 occasions in the league this season and it’s fair to say it wouldn’t come as a shock to see that number increase to 15. Maynard’s side have a goal difference of +18, whilst Adkins’ side have -27, and it would not be surprising to see that number drop further after Saturday with how poor the visitors have been all season.

Full Preview of the Game – Last Results and Head-To-Head

As mentioned above, promotion-chasing Notts come into this one on better form, despite not winning in their last two. For Tranmere, they have drawn their last two, after losing three in a row.

Three points for either side would be crucial for different meanings, with County fighting for promotion and Tranmere fighting against relegation. Depending on other results, the hosts could sneak into the automatic promotion spots with all three points, whilst Nigel Adkin’s side could further extend the gap between themselves and the relegation zone to five points.

Since 2010, these sides have faced each other 13 times in two different competitions, League One and Two. In total, both sides have won five games each, with the other three ending in draws. Their most recent encounter was on the opening day of the season, whereby the game at Prenton Park ended level and goalless after 90 minutes.
