Our Three Predictions For Colchester United vs AFC Wimbledon:

  • First Prediction For Colchester United vs AFC Wimbledon: Match Result – Draw – 7/4
  • Second Prediction For Colchester United vs AFC Wimbledon: Under 1.5 Goals – 13/10
  • Third Prediction For Colchester United vs AFC Wimbledon: Both Teams To Score – No – 57/100

First Prediction For Colchester United vs AFC Wimbledon: Match Result – Draw – 7/4

These two have the joint longest unbeaten records in the League Two, with the visitors sitting top of that particular list. The Dons were last defeated before Christmas, embarking on a run of eleven games without defeat that has propelled them into second spot in the standings. They do though tend to be better at home, failing to win each of the last four on the road, although three of them games have ended in a goalless draw. Colchester have likewise developed a knack for games ending level, with their last two finishing in a draw. The U’s are undefeated in seven games, losing as many games as that figure across the whole campaign. That means that draws make up the imbalance for the eleventh placed side, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the side who have drawn the most games in the EFL this term (15) were to add another to their tally on Saturday afternoon.

Second Prediction For Colchester United vs AFC Wimbledon: Under 1.5 Goals – 13/10

There have been the odd outlier in results, notably the 3-2 defeat at Swindon, but across the last seventeen games in League Two, only AFC Wimbledon have conceded fewer times than the U’s eleven. Almost half of that tally in the space of four days, spread between the New Year’s Day reverse at the County Ground and against Accrington. After ending January with three clean sheets in a row, Colchester have conceded a maximum of once across their last seven games. Likewise, Wimbledon have a great defensive record that has seen them keep a clean sheet in all five games this month, also conceding a maximum of once but over a longer fourteen game period. Expect a maximum of a single goal at the weekend.

Third Prediction For Colchester United vs AFC Wimbledon: Both Teams To Score – No – 57/100

While both have a terrific defensive record, highlighted above, their records at the other end haven’t been as spectacular. In Wimbledon’s case, that hasn’t mattered as they sit inside the top three, but goalscoring is perhaps what is currently holding Colchester back from being a top seven side. Despite this, since the start of November, the U’s have actually outscored their opponents by two goals, both having a goal difference of +9 thanks to the Dons marginally greater defensive record. Only seven sides in the fourth tier have scored fewer goals than Danny Cowley’s side, but their tally of 31 conceded is better than leaders Walsall. It would be no surprise if this was a goalless draw in Essex.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Colchester have enjoyed an excellent revival in form following a disappointing start to the campaign and now have their sights set on a late Play-Off push. The U’s went unbeaten throughout the final two months of 2025, if not in spectacular fashion, drawing six of their nine outings. A 4-0 thrashing of Swindon though was a particular highlight, but 2025 got off to the worst possible start with consecutive defeats against the Robins and Accrington.

That loss to Stanley though is their most recent league defeat, shrugging off an EFL Trophy exit at the hands of Cheltenham to go unbeaten since. January ended with two narrow wins over Bromley and Morecambe, while the Cowley’s are yet to lose heading into their final game of this month either. There have been some tough outings too, notably beating table toppers Walsall but then were held by basement club Crawley. On Tuesday evening, Colchester took a valuable point at another promotions chasing side, Notts County.

That result was beneficial to their visitors on Saturday afternoon, AFC Wimbledon. Coupled with the Dons point at Fleetwood, they have a two-point gap to fourth place County. The Wombles, like their opponents, are also unbeaten in February, recording three wins, all without reply. Bradford, Crewe and Salford have been dispatched at home, while two goalless draws away from West London means they have kept five clean sheets in a row.

January was a quieter month for Johnnie Jackson’s side, owing to postponements, but they still picked up a couple of victories over Newport and Tranmere. The last time his side tasted a league defeat was before Christmas, losing at Chesterfield. That means that Wimbledon are currently on their own extended unbeaten run, which stands at eleven games at current.

There have been two meetings between the sides already this campaign, with Colchester coming out on top in the EFL Trophy tie back in December thanks to two first-half goals from Lyle Taylor to see the U’s into the last sixteen. History though hasn’t been so kind to the Essex outfit, defeated in all five previous encounters including a 4-2 loss at The Cherry Red Records Stadium on the opening day of the season. Despite Ben Goodliffe’s double inside ten minutes, the Dons responded to record a fifth straight win over Colchester, as the U’s are yet to take a single league point in this fixture.
