Our Three Predictions for Leeds United vs Sunderland

  • First Prediction: Leeds United to win – 1/2
  • Second Prediction: Over 2.5 goals to be scored – 83/100
  • Third Prediction: Joel Piroe to score at any time – 29/20

First Prediction for Leeds United vs Sunderland – Leeds United to win – 1/2

Whilst this game will be entertaining, league-leaders Leeds are the favourites to win and for good reason. The last time they lost in a Championship fixture this season was at the hands of Blackburn Rovers, which took place at the end of November. Daniel Farke’s side have only lost three out of 32 league games this season and have consistently proved that they have enough to achieve promotion back to the Premier League after a season away. Although Sunderland are not far behind the hosts in terms of league position, form and points tally, they haven’t been as ruthless as their opponents for this one. Plus, Leeds have the home advantage, which is the best home record in the Championship. The league leaders need to continue adding points to their tally if they want to go up as champions, and it would come as no surprise to see them walk away with all three points in this one.

Second Prediction for Leeds United vs Sunderland – Over 2.5 goals to be scored – 83/100

The hosts are the highest-scoring side in the Championship, with 66 goals scored in 32 matches and their opponents are not far behind them, with 49 goals in 32 games. On average, Leeds score 2.06 goals per game, which again, is the highest in the second tier, with their opponents averaging 1.53 goals per game. There has only been five occasions in the league where United have failed to score, with the away side not scoring in one more game, six matches. Although both teams also have good defensive records, but as they have proved multiple times this season, either team are fully capable of scoring goals, and it will come as no shock if this match is somewhat high-scoring.

Third Prediction for Leeds United vs Sunderland – Joel Piroe to score at any time – 29/20

Leeds’ Dutch talisman Joel Piroe has been on fire this season, scoring 14 goals and providing a further six assists. The 25-year-old has already equalled his goal tally and has bettered his tally of goal contributions from last season. He is the Championship’s second-highest goal-scorer, behind Norwich City’s Borja Sainz, by one singular goal. The striker is in great form and has scored four goals in his last four games that he has started. There’s no doubt he’ll be looking to add to his tally to further help his team in their promotion hunt.

Full Preview of the Game – Last Results and Head-To-Head

As previously mentioned, both sides come into this one on very good form, and in the league, are both undefeated in 2025 so far.

With the Championship promotion race so tight, another three points for Leeds United would mean they stay top of the league with 14 games left to play. Depending on Sheffield United’s result, Leeds could either stay two points clear or extend their lead to five points at the top of the table with all three points. For Sunderland, another three points would have them well and truly in the automatic promotion race, and depending on Burnley’s result, they could potentially finish the evening sat third. S

ince 2015, these sides have met six times in both the Championship and the FA Cup. Whilst half of these ties have ended in draws, the Black Cats have won the majority of the ties, winning two, with Leeds only winning once.
