Our 3 predictions for Birmingham City vs Charlton Athletic

  • 1st prediction: Birmingham City to win or draw
  • 2nd prediction: Over 2.5 goals in the match
  • 3rd prediction: Both teams to score – No

1st prediction for Birmingham City vs Charlton Athletic: Birmingham City to win or draw – 4/25

This is going to be a fantastic game. Charlton are a very good side themselves and find themselves in the play-off places after a great run of form to start 2025. However, they are strong underdogs for this game, with many predicting Birmingham as hot favourites to end their unbeaten run. The home side are quite frankly one of the best sides the division has ever seen, and are seven points clear at the top of the table while being on course to break the 100 point mark comfortably. They have the quality to overwhelm teams and look like they could do here despite the strength of their opponents.

2nd prediction for Birmingham City vs Charlton Athletic: Over 2.5 goals in the game – 1/1

This one may be close, but there will be goals aplenty. Birmingham have pretty much unprecedented levels of talent going forward for this level and have a tendency to blow teams away, especially at home. Charlton are no pushovers though and are in great form themselves, so will likely find themselves on the scoresheet. Ultimately, this prediction is an extension of the previous one; Birmingham are strong favourites for every game they play at the minute and look like they are going to win the league. Even if they rest players, they may hit the 2.5 total of this prediction by themselves. With 50 goals scored already, they are almost unstoppable, and that may be the case here.

3rd prediction for Birmingham City vs Charlton Athletic: Both teams to score – 1/1

Both sides are in fantastic form which has seen them rocket up the table, and this has been in part thanks to their attacking talent. Birmingham are virtually guaranteed to score in every game with players such as Jay Stansfield and Lyndon Dykes, and home advantage will only help them here. They are the best team in the league by a distance and are playing with that kind of confidence, so they look unstoppable. With former Charlton striker Alfie May among their ranks, it seems written in the stars that he will have a say in proceedings. Charlton are similarly strong, although they are underdogs, having scored in each of their last eight. Whatever the results, it’s likely both teams will score here.

Full preview of the game: last results and head to head

This is a massive game in League One between 1st and 5th, both with very different ambitions for the season. While they may have different goals, both teams come into the game with amazing form. Home side and favourites Birmingham City are unbeaten in fourteen in the league and have a comfortable gap at the top – anything other than the title seems unlikely now, but they’ll carry on with the same intensity. They’ve won five of their last six in the league, but did pick up a loss against Newcastle United in the cup after pushing them all the way.

Charlton are unbeaten in eight and have also won five of their last six, so they’ll be full of confidence about causing an update. Their last fixture was a win against struggling Peterborough United, which saw them into the play-offs. Birmingham’s last game on the other hand, was an absolute thrashing, beating relegation candidates Cambridge United 4-0.

Despite Birmingham’s position, this fixture’s history works in Charlton’s favour. They’ve won 19 of 47 meetings of the two sides, with Birmingham winning just 12. The Addicks also won the reverse fixture 1-0 at their place in October, so will hope to complete the double this weekend.
