Our Three Predictions For Queens Park Rangers vs Derby County:

  • First Prediction For Queens Park Rangers vs Derby County: Match Result – Queens Park Rangers – 6/5
  • Second Prediction For Queens Park Rangers vs Derby County: Under 2.5 Goals – 61/100
  • Third Prediction For Queens Park Rangers vs Derby County: Both Teams To Score – No – 83/100

First Prediction For Queens Park Rangers vs Derby County: Match Result – Queens Park Rangers – 6/5

A fair few sides in the second tier have struggled on their travels this term, with five sides winning only once. Derby join them in that category, beat Coventry in November, but have lost ten of sixteen away fixtures in the Championship. A run of four losses in a row was ended last time out at Norwich, while a longer ten-game winless streak across all venues has seen them fall into the relegation zone. Despite a drop in form recently, Rangers have recorded five wins from their last six at home, giving them one of the strongest home records in the division. Losing to Sheffield Wednesday was the only blot on their copybook during that period, and they responded to that loss by defeating Blackburn in their last game in West London. A home win feels highly likely on Friday evening.

Second Prediction For Queens Park Rangers vs Derby County: Under 2.5 Goals – 61/100

For more reasons than one, this looks to be a low-scoring encounter under the lights. In the last nineteen meetings between the two, stretching back to a 2-2 draw in 2010, there have been no more than three goals in a game. In fixtures at Loftus Road this campaign, QPR have scored and conceded in equal measure with 22. The Rams meanwhile have struggled at both ends of the pitch, averaging less than a goal a game with fourteen but have shipped 27 away from the East Midlands. The January signing of Lars-Jørgen Salvesen has improved their attack, scoring once so far, and he looks like the man to lead their attack for the long-term.

Third Prediction For Queens Park Rangers vs Derby County: Both Teams To Score – No – 83/100

QPR were scoreless in midweek, the second time in four games they have failed to find the back of the net. Prior to that though, they had found the back of the net in every game in January, meaning that should be just a temporary dip in the goalscoring department. The same can’t be said about Derby though, who despite signing a forward in January, they were unsuccessful in their pursuit of another signing in that area of the pitch. In five of their last seven league games, they have failed to net, and the same is likely on Friday evening. Expect goals, if any, to go in favour of the home side.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

QPR’s revival has hit a bump in the road in recent weeks, losing three of their past four games. In the two months that followed the end of November, they lost just a single league game, coming on Boxing Day against Swansea City. But in January, they finally began to hit their stride and live up to pre-season expectations, winning four on the bounce to start the calendar year. But a loss to fellow Play-Off chasers Sheffield Wednesday began their recent demise.

Millwall defeated them on the opening day of February, before they earned a fortunate victory over Blackburn Rovers to get them back on track. But the Hoops fourth consecutive game against a side they are in contention with for a top six place ended in another loss, this time to Coventry. They suffered late heartbreak, conceding a 94th-minute winner against the Sky Blues to remain four points adrift of sixth-place Rovers.

Derby County meanwhile moved out of the bottom three on Tuesday evening, taking a point for the second game in a trot in a drab game against Oxford. The Rams required a late Jerry Yates penalty to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat on Saturday at Norwich, which was the first time they had taken a point this calendar year.

Since beating West Brom on Boxing Day, the Rams haven’t recorded a win since, losing eight in a row in all competitions until the draw at Carrow Road at the weekend. That saw Paul Warne sacked as the club dropped into the bottom three, taking two points while Matt Hamshaw has been interim manager. John Eustace is expected to be named Rams boss on Thursday.

The FA Cup didn’t prove kind to either of these sides, meaning they could concentrate on the league instead. The Hoops took part in a classic in the East Midlands, twice giving themselves a chance in a first period that eventually ended 4-2 to Leicester. The Foxes added a further two goals to seal the tie, while Derby and Leyton Orient could only manage that tally in 120 minutes between them before Orient won on penalties.

Derby may have won the most recent encounter 2-0 in October, but QPR have had some memorable games against the Rams. Bobby Zamora scored an unforgettable Play-Off Final winner for Harry Redknapp’s side, while the Rams were relegated after losing their last encounter at Loftus Road almost three years ago. Despite this, Derby have a superior head-to-head record, winning 24 to QPR’s twenty games.
