Our Three Predictions For Plymouth Argyle vs Millwall
- First Prediction: Plymouth Argyle – Draw No Bet – 7/5
- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – Evens
- Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 137/100
First Prediction For Plymouth Argyle vs Millwall – Plymouth Argyle – Draw No Bet – 7/5
It was a fabulous weekend for Plymouth, who secured a place in the FA Cup fifth round with a 1-0 win over Premier League leaders Liverpool. There is little time for Miron Muslic’s team to celebrate their achievements though, and attention has immediately shifted back to Championship survival. They will be full of confidence though, having now gone three games unbeaten in all competitions. Their last league outing saw them record an impressive victory over play-off chasing West Bromwich Albion, whilst they also secured a valuable point with a 2-2 draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Millwall also had a weekend to remember when they too progressed in the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Leeds United at Elland Road. This was their fourth successive win in all competitions and they enter this fixture as heavy favourites. Despite Plymouth’s recent exploits, the bookies have them as huge underdogs. However, there is excellent value in backing the home side as a draw no bet option. The Pilgrims have actually been fairly strong at home, losing just four of their 15 fixtures on the south coast. Meanwhile, Millwall have picked up just three victories on their travels in the league this season. It’s worth noting that they have won their last three away from home in all competitions though.
Second Prediction For Plymouth Argyle vs Millwall – Both Teams To Score – Evens
Putting aside their FA Cup heroics, Plymouth have kept just two clean sheets in the Championship all season. They have also conceded a staggering 63 goals in just 30 league games, nine more than anyone else in the division. Although they have scored just 29 times, 24 of those have come at Home Park, showing how crucial their home form is to their survival.
Millwall are on a good run of form and have netted in each of their last five in all competitions. They will be up against it against a team which have been revitalised in recent weeks, which should make for an entertaining encounter. However, the Lions do tend to produce low scoring games, hence why the odds for this are so high.
Third Prediction For Plymouth Argyle vs Millwall – Over 2.5 Goals – 137/100
There have been 50 goals scored at Home Park this season in just 15 games. This averages out at 3.33 goals per game and it’s difficult to see that changing here. Plymouth’s newfound confidence means they are likely to have a go at their opponents, which will make for an extremely open game.
Millwall’s season has been built on defensive resilience, so it’s no surprise to see this market above the evens mark. However, seven of the last 10 league fixtures played in Devon have produced at least three goals. Alex Neil’s side will be fully expecting a more open game and it will be interesting to see how they cope with that. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see a high-scoring draw.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head
Plymouth remain bottom of the Championship, a position they have held since just before Christmas. However, the departure of Wayne Rooney on New Year’s Eve has sparked an upturn in results, and they enter this fixture having lost just two of their nine games in all competitions since the turn of the year. Their 1-0 win over Liverpool has been well documented over the last 24 hours, but they also won their last league outing when they secured a 2-1 victory over promotion-chasing West Bromwich Albion. A 2-2 draw with Sunderland the week prior was also an excellent result.
A 1-0 win over Leeds United in early November saw Millwall move to within touching distance of the play-offs. However, a run of just one win from their next 13 fixtures saw them drop into the bottom half of the table. They have recovered in recent weeks with wins over Luton Town, Portsmouth and Queens Park Rangers as well as the 2-0 victory over Leeds in the FA Cup at the weekend. Another three points here could see them return to the top half and keep their play-off hopes alive.
The Lions have the much superior record in this fixture in recent times. They won 1-0 at The Den in October in what was their sixth successive victory over the Pilgrims. Stretching back further, Millwall are unbeaten in the last 11 meetings between the pair, with Plymouth’s last victory dating all the way back to 1997.
