Our Three Predictions For Bristol City vs Swansea City:

  • First Prediction For Bristol City vs Swansea City: Match Result – Bristol City – 4/5
  • Second Prediction For Bristol City vs Swansea City: Over 3.5 Goals – 13/5
  • Third Prediction For Bristol City vs Swansea City: Both Teams To Score – No – 4/5

First Prediction For Bristol City vs Swansea City: Match Result – Bristol City – 4/5

Bristol City are one of several sides who have Play-Off aspirations in the second tier, currently finding themselves in a congested pack of ten sides separated by five points. Blackburn and Middlesbrough aren’t in action over the weekend, while two sides in that pack, West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday, face each other early on Saturday. As the Robins don’t play until the following day, they have the advantage of knowing what their rivals have done, meaning they could be in the top six by the end of this particular matchday. In their way are a Swansea side that are on a desperately disappointing run of form, losing four in a row. It appears, on paper at least, that the hosts should comfortably win this outing.

Second Prediction For Bristol City vs Swansea City: Over 3.5 Goals – 13/5

Swansea’s recent troubles on their travels have been evident in their goals conceded statistic. Since beating Plymouth in December, they have lost five straight games on their travels, but it’s the most recent four that have been even poorer. In January, they conceded at least three in each game, totalling fifteen with only one goal in reply. After shipping four at Portsmouth, consecutive three nil losses saw them dumped out the FA Cup and humiliated by their rivals. Most recently, a 5-1 thrashing at Norwich was the worst of the lot. The Robins haven’t been particularly free-scoring in attack, but did put three past Pompey at the end of December. It wouldn’t be a surprise if they managed the same on Sunday lunchtime.

Third Prediction For Bristol City vs Swansea City: Both Teams To Score – No – 4/5

While the Swans have been shipping goals for fun on their travels, it’s a different story in the attacking department. They’ve managed just one in their past four, coming in their biggest loss at Carrow Road, although it did briefly see them level before the Canaries onslaught that came later in the game. Bristol City will be confident of scoring a few goals on Sunday, giving their improvement infront of goal in recent times. But it feels unlikely that there will be goals at both ends, meaning another disappointing trip for the travelling Jack Army, although this one is a lot shorter.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Bristol City took a vital point in their push for a top six spot last weekend, Mark Sykes scoring an equaliser despite having ten men. The Robins ended the game another man lighter, after Ross McCrorie joined Joe Williams in being dismissed at The Kassam Stadium. Liam Manning’s side have lost just one of their late eight games, seeing them rise to ninth in the standings, two points off a Play-Off place in an increasingly congested top half of the table.

Both home encounters over Christmas were won without conceding, and they added another home win with a clean sheet against Derby following a draw at Plymouth. They have responded to a defeat at Coventry by drawing to Sheffield Wednesday, ending January by winning against Blackburn before Saturday’s draw at Oxford.

Swansea City have had quite the opposite start to 2025. Spirits were high, and like that their opponents from over the border, they won both home games to end 2024. But a crushing 4-0 loss at Portsmouth started their demise. A draw against West Brom was brief redemption, but they crashed out of the FA Cup at Southampton.

That 3-0 loss on the South Coast was replicated in South Wales in damaging fashion, heavily beaten by their rivals from the capital, Cardiff City. Another thrashing on the road to Norwich, conceding five times, was sandwiched between home losses to Sheffield United and Coventry. The Swans once had aspirations matching that of the Robins earlier in the campaign, but they have now fallen to seventeenth in the table, beginning to look over their shoulders at the sides below them.

This game takes place on FA Cup weekend, as both clubs crashed out the competition at the first time of asking. Bristol City were narrowly defeated by Premier League Wolves, but put in a respectable effort and pulled a goal back through Scott Twine after trailing two nil 21 minutes in. They were denied a late leveller by the crossbar late on, but the same couldn’t be said for the Swans. Luke Williams’ outfit were well beaten by Southampton, who had been on a dismal run since promotion from this level last term.

Sunday’s hosts have won two of the past three meetings between the sides, but it was honours even when they met. Ben Cabango gave the Welsh side the advantage fifteen minutes in, but Jason Knight levelled with a quarter of an hour remaining. The Robins are the superior side across history too, winning 32 to Swansea’s 24 encounters. But the Swans had a memorable win two decades ago, winning 7-1 in the third tier.
