Fleetwood Town host League Two leaders Walsall at Highbury Stadium as the Saddlers look to bounce back from a rare defeat at the weekend.
Our Three Predictions For Fleetwood Town vs Walsall
- First Prediction: Walsall To Win – 21/20
- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 18/25
- Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 93/100
First Prediction For Fleetwood Town vs Walsall – Walsall To Win – 21/20
It’s fair to say that Fleetwood have been inconsistent at best this season. They’re a capable team that can pull out a win against promotion chasers such as Walsall, Bradford City and Salford City, but they also have shown that defeats against strugglers Swindon Town and Carlisle United are in their locker. They enter this game having lost to the Cumbrians at the weekend and it’s difficult to predict which Fleetwood will turn up here.
Walsall also lost on Saturday in emphatic fashion, going down 3-0 at Bradford City. However, this was their first defeat in 16 league games. Coincidentally though, their previous reverse came at the hands of Fleetwood in early October. Therefore, the Saddlers have two points to prove at Highbury. They’ll be desperate to return to winning ways, but also to avenge the 6-2 loss against the Cod Army earlier in the season.
Second Prediction For Fleetwood Town vs Walsall – Both Teams To Score – 18/25
Fleetwood have been in good scoring form as of late. They’ve only failed to find the back of the net once in their last 10 league fixtures, although they have conceded in eight of those. Seven of these games also saw both teams score.
Since the turn of the year, Walsall’s defence hasn’t been as sturdy as it was prior to Christmas. They’ve conceded in all five games they’ve played in 2025 in all competitions, shipping a total of 11 goals. Their defeat against Bradford was the first time they had failed to score since drawing 0-0 with Accrington Stanley in October, one of just three times they’ve blanked all season.
Third Prediction For Fleetwood Town vs Walsall – Over 2.5 Goals – 93/100
In recent weeks, if you want to see goals, these are two teams that can usually provide the goods. Fleetwood’s 2-1 loss against Carlisle on Saturday was their third in four games which have seen three goals, whilst the previous meeting between the pair earlier this season saw the net bulge an incredible eight times.
Walsall’s recent inability to keep a clean sheet has also started producing high scoring affairs. They conceded just twice in six league games in December, but January has been far from kind. Although they produced big wins over Tranmere Rovers and MK Dons, they still failed to stop their opposition from scoring before they came up against an in-form Bradford at the weekend. The Bantams were sublime, emerging with a 3-0 victory at Valley Parade. Walsall have enough to return to winning ways here, but they will likely need at least two goals to secure the three points.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head
Fleetwood have shown signs of progress since appointing Pete Wild in December. He has overseen excellent wins against Salford City and MK Dons, although the honeymoon period came to an end on Saturday when bottom side Carlisle left Highbury with a 2-1 win. The manager fumed at the nature of the defeat though, criticising the linesman for failing to award a throw-in in the build up to the Cumbrians winning goal.
Walsall have been the team to beat in League Two this season and currently lead the division by 12 points. Their rare slip up in Yorkshire in the previous fixture has gone unpunished after second-placed Crewe Alexandra suffered a shock defeat against Accrington Stanley, but manager Mat Sadler will be wary that they may have gotten away with one. Their lead is almost insurmountable though, although there is still plenty of football left to be played. They had won nine games on the spin prior to Saturday, so it won’t be panic stations just yet.
The two teams met at the Poundland Bescot Stadium in October when Fleetwood left the West Midlands with a stunning 6-2 victory. It was their first meeting in five years, with Walsall winning the previous clash in 2019. The Saddlers haven’t won at Highbury in any of their previous three visits though, stretching back to 2016.
