Leicester City v Queens Park Rangers: Predictions, Lineups, and Odds (11/1)

Leicester City host Queens Park Rangers in this fascinating FA Cup Third Round tie. The teams are of course in different leagues, but the form of both makes this a lot closer than that divide would suggest.

Our Three Predictions For Leicester City v Queens Park Rangers

  • Prediction 1 – Queens Park Rangers To Win – 79/20
  • Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Win – Yes – 59/100
  • Prediction 3 – Leicester City To Win – 27/50

First Prediction For Leicester City v Queens Park Rangers – Queens Park Rangers To Win – 79/20

The Foxes last home win was on December 3, a 3-1 win over West Ham United, one week earlier was QPR’s last away win, a 2-0 victory at Cardiff City. Since then the two sides have gone on polar opposites of form. Leicester have only picked up a point in six Premier League games, and the R’s have only lost once in nine games in the Championship. Normally you would say the team playing its football in the highest league would have the upper hand, but given the form, and the magic of the FA Cup, any logic gets put to the side. QPR are on a high and could well have enough to cause a minor shock.

Second Prediction For Leicester City v Queens Park Rangers – Both Teams To Win – Yes – 59/100

Given the way the two teams have been playing in the past month, goals should be easy to come by. City have struggled for goals in their poor run, but have played some of the top flights big guns. They have scored twice in their last three games, against Liverpool and Aston Villa, so they can breach even the most meanest of defences. They do ship far too many though and conceded 14 in the last five. This will be a huge lift for Rangers, as they look to continue a good scoring run, six in the last three games, which included two wins and a draw.

Third Prediction For Leicester City v Queens Park Rangers – Leicester City To Win – 27/50

It is very short odds, and probably for good reason. Leicester are fighting with everything they have in the Premier League as they try and move away from the drop zone. This though is a chance to forget all that scrapping and home advantage and of course won the competition as recent as 2021. Without the pressure of three points being the aim they could play with more freedom. QPR may look at their recent run and go into this game with confidence, but playing a team that is currently licking its wounds and players with a point to prove under new management could be too much. Especially as they too were fighting for points themselves not too long ago.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head

Ruud van Nistelrooy did give everyone a lift after his appointment before Christmas but things have turned south again and The Foxes are wounded. This doesn’t bode well for a team that won the FA Cup just a few short years ago, and against a Championship team that is one of the form outfits in that League. They will also look back to the last time they met, back in March 2024 when their visitors beat them 2-1 at the King Power. Remarkably Jamie Vardy is still leading the line at 37 years old, and his six goals this term means he is the leading scorer. Four years his junior, Jordan Ayew has four goals, but it is Stephy Mavididi that could be the one to watch here with his three goals and an assist from midfield.

Fresh from a home win last Monday night against fellow strugglers Luton Town , Marti Cifuentes men now have a little daylight in the Championship standings between them and those in the bottom three. They can put all thoughts of battling for points aside for one week as they have a free hot at a Premier League side that they have a good record against in recent years. Swiss striker Michael Frey grabbed what turned out to be the winner against Luton, and took his tally to five for the season. Paul Smyth will look to impress, and at the back Jimmy Dunne will have to be at his best again to hold what is a quick Foxes front line.
