Tranmere Rovers have posted a brilliant response to comments suggesting Trent Alexander-Arnold could end up at Prenton Park this month.
The England international has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid over the course of the past week. He lined up in his familiar right wing-back role against bitter rivals Manchester United yesterday but endured a torrid afternoon at Anfield.
With the Reds expected to pick up an easy three points against a team in disarray, United manager Ruben Amorim unleashed Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes in order to combat his attacking threat. Not only did the duo accomplish that but they also exposed his defensive frailties, prompting Sky Sports Roy Keane to launch a dig at the 26-year-old during half time.
What Was Said?
The Red Devils were much the better team throughout the first period. Speaking at the break, former United midfielder Keane suggested that Alexander-Arnold should forget about a move to Real Madrid, claiming a transfer to League Two outfit Tranmere Rovers would be a better fit:
“It’s schoolboy stuff. There’s talk of him going to Real Madrid, the way he’s defending he’s going to Tranmere Rovers after this – he’s got to do better.
“At least he won’t have to move house, will he? He’s got to do better defensively, he’s got to do better.”
Tranmere’s Witty Response
Keane’s comments immediately went viral on social media, prompting Tranmere to respond. Taking to ‘X’, they posted a picture of current right-back Cameron Norman, with the caption “Trent to Tranmere, Roy? Nah, we’re alright thanks.”

Writer’s View
The timing of Tranmere’s response could not have been any better. Struggling towards the bottom of League Two and in danger of being sucked into a relegation battle, Rovers secured a 1-0 victory over Carlisle United at the weekend, with right-back Norman scoring the only goal of the game. It was a brilliant post from the Birkenhead-based side, although they couldn’t have predicted just how good the response would be.
