1st Prediction For Reading FC vs Mansfield Town: Mansfield Town to win 77/50
Nigel Clough’s Mansfield Town have done well since winning promotion to League One despite losing their talisman Davis Keillor-Dunn and they look in good shape to beat Reading on Sunday. The Stags have won both of their games around Christmas and did not concede a big chance across those two games. What makes this even more impressive is the fact that the two wins came against Rotherham United, who had won the three games before they played Mansfield, and Peterborough United, the second-highest scorers in League One. Reading did beat Northampton Town on Boxing Day, but this was their first win since Ruben Selles departed the club at the start of the month and they are still plagued by off-field issues.
2nd Prediction For Reading FC vs Mansfield Town: Both teams to score: yes 55/100
The potential result of the game is quite a contentious issue with both sides in similar form and relatively close to each other in the table. Therefore, those looking for a safer prediction should predict both teams to score. Reading are fifth in the league for goals per game and they were back to their best after a relatively dry run in front of goals as they scored four times against Northampton. What makes this even better is that all four of the goals were scored by different players and this showcases the Royals’ ability to share the goals around. Despite being one of the highest scorers in the league, their top scorer, Sam Smith, has a reasonable eight goals. They have a large number of goals coming from midfield as Lewis Wing and Charlie Savage have scored four times each whilst Harvey Knibbs has six league goals. Mansfield are also doing fairly well in front of goal and they are the twelfth-highest scorers in the league. They have only failed to find the net once in December.
3rd Prediction For Reading FC vs Mansfield Town: Will Evans to score at any time 23/10
As previously mentioned, Mansfield lost their star attacker, Davis Keillor-Dunn, in the summer. Keillor-Dunn scored 22 times in the league last season to fire the Stags to promotion and he was named in the League Two team of the season. Many thought he would be a big loss for Nigel Clough’s team, but Welshman Will Evans has stepped up to fill Keillor-Dunn’s role fairly well so far. The Welshman bagged 21 goals in the fourth tier last season and has started life in the third tier fairly well, scoring eight times in 20 league games. He has scored three times in the last month, including a brace last time out against Peterborough. He will be looking to keep his form going heading into the new year and he will fancy his chances against a youthful Reading backline.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head
Reading come into the game sitting in sixth place whilst Mansfield sit in eighth, just three points behind their hosts on Sunday. Nigel Clough will be looking for his team to continue the form that they have shown over the last two games and potentially push into the playoff places which would be a phenomenal achievement given that they only got promoted to the third tier this season. Noel Hunt will know that losing on Sunday will mean that his team get leapfrogged by their opponents and he will hope that his young squad can consistently rediscover the form which they showed under Ruben Selles in order to try and push for promotion back to the Championship. This is the first match between the two teams since 1993.
