Swindon haven’t scored in their last two away games and are really struggling away from the County Ground. They have given themselves some breathing room at the bottom of the table, but could be sucked back into the mix over the festive period with two successive away games.

Wimbledon are a team that don’t score or concede a huge amount. As a result, this could be a fairly drab affair which is won by a solitary moment. Four of their last six have seen under three goals whilst collapses in concentration saw them blow a 2-0 lead against Newport County earlier this month.
Swindon do look more dangerous under Holloway, but it is again their away form which will be called into question. They lost 1-0 at Valley Parade against Bradford City in their last game on the road and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a similar scoreline here.

Wimbledon’s defeat against Chesterfield on Saturday saw them drop a place to sixth in the table, but their run of three wins and a draw prior to that had seen them rise into the play-off places. Perhaps the most impressive of those victories was a 1-0 win over Doncaster Rovers at Plough Lane, whilst they also picked up three points away from home against Tranmere Rovers and Harrogate Town.
Ina Holloway had to wait a while for his first win at Swindon but finally broke the duck with a 3-1 victory over fellow strugglers Fleetwood Town earlier this month. A narrow 1-0 defeat at Bradford followed but another 3-1 win, this time at play-off chasing Grimsby Town, on Saturday has given Holloway something to build on for the New Year.
The corresponding fixture at Plough Lane saw Wimbledon record an emphatic 4-0 win just over a year ago. Swindon won the return game 3-2 at the County Ground in April. The Robins’ last triumph at the Dons came in April 2023 when they left the capital with an emphatic 5-1 win.
