Our Three Predictions For Luton Town vs Derby County:
- First Prediction For Luton Town vs Derby County: Match Result – Draw – 11/5
- Second Prediction For Luton Town vs Derby County: Under 2.5 Goals – 7/10
- Third Prediction For Luton Town vs Derby County: Both Teams To Score – No – 17/20
First Prediction For Luton Town vs Derby County: Match Result – Draw – 11/5
On the road this campaign, Derby have drawn four of their last seven away games, including their last outing at Burnley. Paul Warne’s side have turned around their form away from Pride Park and are now tough to beat, only defeated once in their last four games away from home, against second-place Leeds United. While at Kenilworth Road, Luton have been involved in a stalemate twice since the opening of November. The Hatters don’t often taste defeat on their own patch either, losing only once since the start of September. Both sides will consider this as a must not lose game. While they will be hoping to put some extra breathing space between the bottom three and themselves, a draw feels the likely outcome.
Second Prediction For Luton Town vs Derby County: Under 2.5 Goals – 7/10
Luton have averaged only a goal a game from their past six encounters, while Derby have scored and conceded in equal measure in the same period with seven apiece. The Rams have proved they have goals in them, netting four times last Friday against Portsmouth, but struggle much more away from the East Midlands in finding the back of the net. While Luton endured a wretched November on the road with three heavy away defeats, they have only conceded four times in their opening three games in December. More than two goals seem unlikely.
Third Prediction For Luton Town vs Derby County: Both Teams To Score – No – 17/20
In each of the Rams’ last three games, at least one of the teams has failed to find the back of the net. Luton meanwhile were scoreless at Blackburn on Saturday, and half of their games in November ended without both sides scoring. A goalless draw feels on the cards, owing to both sides wanting to cancel each other out and being relatively satisfied with just a point. If this game doesn’t end level, then a single goal will likely be enough for the three points.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:
Derby County are the visitors to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town, looking to continue their recent upturn in form in their past two games. The Rams produced a scintillating display last Friday evening to thrash Portsmouth 4-0 and will be looking to replicate that performance on national TV once again.
That result moved Paul Warne’s side up to 14th, seven points clear of danger after ending a run of six without a win. Derby were much improved when they held a formidable Burnley side to a goalless draw last Tuesday, a marked improvement from their defeat against the Clarets fellow promotion chasers Leeds three days earlier. Prior to that, Derby had tasted consecutive home losses against Swansea City and Sheffield Wednesday, last picking up three points in their only away win of the season at Coventry City earlier in the month.
Luton Town meanwhile were beaten by Blackburn last weekend, but have been far superior on their own patch this season. The Hatters are unbeaten in their last five in Bedfordshire, only losing once since the opening month of the campaign. Elijah Adebayo struck the last-gasp winner in their latest home win against Stoke last Tuesday evening. Rob Edwards will be delighted that his side are back at home, having shipped twelve goals across their three away outings in November.
After facing Derby, Luton look forward to consecutive festive trips west, travelling to Bristol City and Swansea City to end 2024. Derby meanwhile have two tough home assignments against promotion chasers West Brom and Leeds United to navigate before the year is out.
These two sides last met in the 2021/22 campaign, with Luton edging a narrow contest 1-0 thanks to a single Danny Hylton goal. Derby were eventually relegated that season, while the Hatters made the Play-Offs, but in the earlier game that term, the sides couldn’t be separated in a 2-2 draw. On that October afternoon in 2021, Derby had twice led at Pride Park through Tom Lawrence and Jason Knight. Goals from Fred Onyedinma and Elijah Adebayo though earned the visitors a deserved share of the spoils.
These two first met in an FA Cup tie in 1946, and have both beaten the other eighteen times throughout history, with eleven games ending level.
