Our 3 predictions for Sheffield Wednesday vs Cardiff City
- 1st prediction: Cardiff City to win or draw
- 2nd prediction: Over 3.5 goals in the game
- 3rd prediction: Both teams to score
1st prediction for Sheffield Wednesday vs Cardiff City: Cardiff City to win or draw 19/25
Given the two sides’ respective league positions this seems like a daft prediction, but the table only tells part of the story. The South Wales outfit have been resurgent under interim boss Omer Riza, who inexplicably still hasn’t been given the permanent job after the sacking of Erol Bulut. After one intiial defeat the Bluebirds went on a run that dragged them out of the relegation zone at one stage, having been glued to the foot of the table previously. Form has dropped slightly since, but you’d still expect them to get something from this one.
2nd prediction for Sheffield Wednesday vs Cardiff City: Over 3.5 goals in the game 57/25
Whatever happens in this one, there will be goals. Both teams will be going for it as the search for a win to boost them up the table, so won’t be sitting back too much. The two teams are also known for their attacking play, with the respective managers encouraging entertaining football. Wednesday have been weak at the back this season while Cardiff have finally clicked going forward under Omer Riza. With this in mind, it’s highly unlikely Saturday’s game will be boring.
3rd prediction for Sheffield Wednesday vs Cardiff City: Both teams to score – 19/25
Again, with the situations the two teams are in, they have no choice but to attack. Wednesday have scored in all but one of their last five and have conceded a fair few, including six against Watford. Though their approach is risky, it’s needed, and with this being a winnable home game they will likely seek the initiative. Cardiff are similar, especially in the last couple of games, though they are arguably better going forward. Neither side will want anything apart from three points, so it’s likely both will hit the net.

Full preview of the game: last results and head to head
This is a difficult game to predict as both sides come into it in pretty inconsistent form. Cardiff probably have the upper hand, having recovered well after a dreadful start, though they are still in the relegation zone. Hopes had been high at Hillsborough for this season but Wednesday find themselves struggling in mid table, when there had been hopes for more under the highly rated Danny Rohl. For their past few games, Wednesday have three losses and two wins in their last six, whereas Cardiff have three wins and two losses.
In this fixture’s past, it’s fairly balanced. Both won one game each last campaign by a score of 2-1, so if the past is anything to go by, there’s nothing to separate the teams.
