Dan Scarr expects Wrexham to be in for a tough time when they visit Harrogate Town in the first round of the FA Cup.
The Welsh side have been drawn away to the League Two club with kick-off on Sunday. Phil Parkinson did tease there may be a few changes to the lineup at Wetherby Road, saying that he will select ‘the team we feel is right’ for the clash.
“It’ll Be A Tough Game”
Speaking to the FA ahead of the match, summer signing Scarr said that he hoped that Wrexham’s league form could translate into the cup they did so well in over the past two years.
“Every game of football we go into we want to win. Momentum is a tough thing to come by in football and if you’ve got a chance to win a game you should take it and do the best you can. That will help our league form and help us into the next round. That’s the goal.”
“It’ll be a tough game. In these games the underdog is always giving 30-40% more than they usually would do and they’ll be doing loads of work on how to stop us. As long as we’re professional in our approach and approach it how we would a league game we have a very good chance of getting through”
Since the takeover of The Red Dragons, the club reached the fourth round in their two most recent seasons, losing to Championship opposition in Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers. It is a direct rematch of the first round in the 2021/22 season, which The Sulphurites won 2-1.

Wrexham do look the firm favourites going into this game. They have had a brilliant time in League One so far after promotion and looked comfortably superior to most sides in the fourth tier last season. They have definitely improved since then with deals for James McClean and even recently with former Bolton Wanderers man Jon Dadi Bodvarsson. The FA Cup does have it’s upsets but this does not feel like it will be one.
