Our 3 Predictions For Sheffield United vs Stoke City

1st Prediction For Sheffield United vs Stoke City: Sheffield United to win 19/25

Memories can be short in football, but, just two weeks ago, Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United side were the only remaining unbeaten team in the Championship and this was for a reason. The Blades have an excellent defensive record having kept seven clean sheets so far, the most in the second tier. They also have excellent depth at the back with the likes of Harrison Burrows, Jamie Shackleton and Jack Robinson starting their last match against Middlesbrough on the bench. This sturdy defence means that all the Blades need to secure a win is one moment of quality from their high-calibre attack consisting of players like Gustavo Hamer, Kieffer Moore and Jesrun Rak-Sakyi. Combining all of this with Stoke’s recent poor form away from the Bet365 Stadium means that the Yorkshiremen will surely return to winning ways come Saturday.

2nd Prediction For Sheffield United vs Stoke City: Both teams to score: no 101/100

Building on what was previously implied, the Potters have not only failed to win in any of their last three away games, but they have failed to hit the back of the net altogether. Their last win on the road came in August. Striker Thomas Cannon, on loan from last season’s Championship winners Leicester City, has largely struggled for the Potters so far. All of his four goals for the club came in one game against Portsmouth at the start of the month and, although he picked up an assist in the last game which may help his confidence slightly, the experienced Sheffield United centre-back pairing of Harry Souttar and Anel Ahmedhodzic should be able to comfortably deal with him.

3rd Prediction For Sheffield United vs Stoke City: Full time result: Sheffield United and under 1.5 goals 107/20

Although Sheffield United should get over the line in this contest, it will certainly be a game of close margins. The Blades have failed to score in their last two games and their young attackers like Rak-Sakyi and Rhian Brewster might be low on confidence. Additionally, Stoke goalkeeper Viktor Johansson has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship this season, making 4.1 saves per game on average, the highest of any goalkeeper in the league. This means that the Potters’ defence, although prone to conceding goals, is not that leaky which will lead to the game being a one-goal affair.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Sheffield United are sitting in fifth place in the league, 12 places above their opponents on Saturday afternoon, but they are at a crucial point form-wise. Having lost their last two games, Narcis Pelach’s side will turn up to Bramall Lane with the genuine belief that they can take three points off the Blades and end their recent poor run away from home. It will be up to the Sheffield United players to overcome this challenge, mentally as much as physically, and push back towards the automatic promotion spots. Whilst they are only three points off second-placed Burnley, league leaders Sunderland have a six point gap to the Blades which Chris Wilder and his staff will not want getting any larger.
