Our Three Predictions For Oxford United v West Bromwich Albion

  • First Prediction – Both teams to score – 1.79
  • Second Prediction – Match to end in a draw – 3.45
  • Third Prediction – Over 2.5 goals scored – 1.95

First Prediction For Oxford United v West Bromwich Albion – Both Teams To Score – 1.79

Both sides have proved that they can score goals. In the Championship this season, Des Buckingham’s Oxford side have only failed to score in one game. For the visitors, they have only failed to score in three games.  The U’s have scored 13 times this season in the second tier of English football, while West Brom have scored one fewer.

Second Prediction For Oxford United v West Bromwich Albion – Match To End In A Draw – 3.45

This match is a tough test for both sides. Whilst Oxford’s home form is good, Carlos Corberan’s Baggies side are currently sat in the play-off spots, only losing twice so far this season. The hosts for this encounter have drawn their last three Championship games, whilst West Brom haven’t won in their last three games. With both sides relatively off in terms of form, as well as Oxford’s strong home record, all the arrows are pointing towards the scoreline being even at full-time.

Third Prediction For Oxford United v West Bromwich Albion – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 1.95

Whilst Buckingham’s side have proved they can score goals, they also haven’t got the best defensive record. They have only kept two clean sheets in nine matches, and have conceded a total of 11 goals so far this season. These defensive woes will be known by the Baggies, as they will try and exploit the poor record as they look to get back to winning ways. However, with the previously mentioned dip in form, the hosts may also be able to exploit this, making the match seem like it will be a high-scoring affair.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head

After a week off for the international break, the Championship returns. The hosts come into this one on the back of three draws, one loss and one win in their last five. Despite the dip in form, Oxford still remain in a respectable 10th place, only four points off the play-off places, which is where their opponents currently sit. Winless in three, West Brom sit 4th, a mere two points off Sunderland, who are currently joint top of the league with Sheffield United. A win for both teams in this fixture could prove crucial, with three points potentially propelling either side closer to the play-off and automatic promotion spots.

Professionally, these sides have only met once since 2014. Both sides have played each other more recently in pre-season friendlies. Oxford made the short trip to the midlands to take on West Brom at the Hawthorns in the League Cup back in 2014. It finished 1-1 after 120 minutes, but Oxford were down to 10 men. A dramatic penalty shootout then ensued, with the home side ultimately going through to the next round after winning 7-6 from the spot.
