Our 3 predictions for Chesterfield vs Notts County

Prediction 1: Notts County to win or draw 77/100

Prediction 2: Over 3.5 goals in the match 32/25

Prediction 3: Both teams to score 11/25

1st prediction for Chesterfield vs Notts County: Notts County to win or draw 77/100

Notts County have been one of the standout teams in League Two so far this season, and currently find themselves occupying a spot in the play-off places. Stuart Maynard seems to have got them sorted after they finished last season in freefall, and they have started the campaign encouragingly. Most importantly, however, they have sorted the defence from last season, which was a major issue. They haven’t been losing many games, but Chesterfield love a draw, so a sharing of the points or County win seems like the most likely result.

2nd prediction for Chesterfield vs Notts County: Over 3.5 goals in the match 32/25

Whatever the result is, it seems inevitable that there will be plenty of goalmouth action. These two sides are amongst the most prolific in League Two, and you’d expect that to continue this weekend. Notts County have been fairly safe at the back though which is reflected in their higher league standing, so Chesterfield may have a job on their hands in continuing their attacking record. That being said, if any team can breach County its the Spireites, so we will likely have a high scoring affair this weekend.

3rd prediction for Chesterfield vs Notts County: Both teams to score 11/25

Again, this prediction makes itself with the level of attacking talent in the two sides. Generally when both sides hit the net in games they do it multiple times, but they are also prone to missing the target at times. Notts County are coming off the back of a loss to Port Vale so will be out for revenge in a game where they drew a blank, whereas Chesterfield drew 2-2 against Walsall so already have their shooting boots on. With the two sides boasting names such as Dilan Markanday and Jodi Jones, who should really be playing a division higher, chances will be aplenty in Derbyshire on Saturday.

Full preview of the game: last results and Head to Head

Both sides come into this game off the back of less than ideal results, but still in reasonable form. Chesterfield have drawn an awful lot recently, but haven’t been losing many and find themselves in midtable when many expected better, so will be hoping to kick on. Notts County on the other hand, have been in fine form of late despite defeat in their last game, and are amongst favourites for promotion. Looking purely at squads, the away side appear to have the upper hand, but home advantage could aid Chesterfield.

Historically speaking, this fixture has been contested 68 times in the Football League, with a fairly even distribution of results. County have the edge slightly, having won 28 of the contests, compared to 19 draws and 21 Chesterfield victories. In more recent years, the X have had the upper hand, winning half of the last six clashes taking place in the EFL. They also beat Chesterfield on penalties to return to league football in 2023, so the away side certainly have the advantage psychologically this weekend.
