Former Bolton Wanderers and Stockport County defender Tyler Garratt has penned a new deal which will see him stay at Gibraltar top division side Europa Point, The Real EFL can exclusively reveal.
Having joined the Bolton academy at the age of 16, Garratt made his debut in a Championship tie against Cardiff City back in 2016. However, he only went on to make two more professional appearances for the Trotters before moving to Doncaster Rovers in the summer of that year.
Although the 27-year-old would never become a stalwart in the EFL, he would build a CV of a number of clubs in the divisions, including Stockport County, the side he joined following his release from Doncaster in the summer of 2019. During that summer, the Lincoln-born man would also go on trial for his hometown side, Lincoln City, featuring in a friendly against a Nottingham Forest XI, although a dislocated shoulder would see him leave the pitch early on that occasion.
For the past season, the left-back has been plying his trade over in Gibraltar’s top division, having signed a short-term deal with Europa Point. His 23 starts for the Stepping Stone Club helped guide them to a fourth-place finish, the best in the club’s history.
That success, including a goal and an assist in the side’s final game of the campaign against Manchester 62, has now earned the defender a new deal at his current club for another season, where the side hopes to push on for more success.
Speaking exclusively to The Real EFL about his new deal, Garratt expressed his joy at re-signing.
“I am happy to have been offered to extend my stay here at this progressive football club. This past year has been a great journey and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
The Gibraltar Football League season is set to restart at the end of summer.

Although Garratt’s time in the EFL was not as long lived as he would’ve likely wished, he seems to have found a home over in Gibraltarian football, standing out regularly in matches.
Therefore, this deal seems like it suits all parties, with Europa Point a club who pride themselves on progressing both on and off the pitch, this deal ensures they keep hold of one of the stronger defenders in the league for another year.
