Former Lincoln City Loanee Makes European Switch

Former Lincoln City midfielder Tashan Oakley-Boothe has signed for Portuguese Primeira League side C.F. Estrela da Amadora, as announced by the club on their social media accounts.

The 23-year-old was under contract at Blackpool for the first half of this season, however, the club agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent to allow him to pursue other opportunities.

The England youth international was part of the U-17 World Cup-winning side in India in 2017. The young star, who began his career at Tottenham Hotspur joined Stoke City in the January window of 2020.

He then moved on loan to Lincoln City for the 2022-23 season, where he made 16 league appearances, however, failed to make any major impact during his time at Sincil Bank, only making the matchday squad on two occasions after January.

The midfielder joined the Seasiders in the summer on a free transfer following his release from Stoke, but once again failed to make any noteworthy contributions. During his six-month spell, he made ten appearances, but five of those games in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, and only three matches in the league.

This is unlikely to be a major blow to Blackpool, especially after they have confirmed the signing of promising youngster Ryan Finnigan and are linked with a move for experienced man George Byers.

Oakley-Boothe becomes the second former Lincoln City player to move to Portugal this week, following the announcement that Olamide Shodipo has signed for CD Feirense.

Estrela are enjoying their first season back in the top flight as they currently sit in 15th. The Englishman could make his debut as early as Sunday as his side travel to Estoril Praia.

This is a good move for a player who arguably needs to get his career back on track. Following a couple of less than successful seasons in League One, he will be hoping to rebuild his stock in a top European division.

His time at Lincoln was probably his worst spell in recent years. His final appearnace off the bench against Barnsley in a 0-0 draw was the final nail in the coffin for his time with the Imps, looking uninterested and failing to make any meaninful impact to the game.
