Wycombe Wanderers have pulled off a small coup as they have secured the services of striker Lyle Taylor. The former Nottingham Forest frontman was released in the summer and has visited a few clubs as he has tried to find a new home.
The Chairboys might just have scored a winner with this short-term deal as the striker has kept himself fit, as well as starring on the international scene with his country Montserrat.
Now 33, Taylor will look to become an instant favourite with the Adams Park crowd, when he could be introduced against one of his former teams this coming weekend in a rearranged EFL Trophy fixture against AFC Wimbledon.

After spells at Birmingham City, and Charlton Athletic, Taylor will hope it won’t take long before he’s back amongst the goals. In the meantime, Wanderers boss Matt Bloomfield reflected on his capture. Reported by the bucksfreepress he said. “I’m pleased to have him on board.
“I’ve been speaking to Lyle for a couple of months since the end of the summer transfer window. We were looking to see if Lyle was able to come in at that point, but he had attention from clubs higher up the food chain.
“He wanted to see if anything came to fruition and unfortunately for him, it didn’t but fortunately for us, he was still available. After the weekend, I spoke to him and following our conversations, he is so hungry to prove what he can do. He can score goals with his feet, he’s a player with great calibre that has played at a very high level.
“This could work for us and I like him a lot. He’s got a point to prove and we know he’s got that goal-scoring ability. Got a lot of experience so we’re looking forward to welcoming him in.”
Wycombe fans will be glad he is on their side as he has a near-perfect record against the Buckinghamshire team. Bloomfield recalls times recently when he and another former Chairboy would be a thorn in their side.
“Lyle is a very good goal scorer and he is someone who has been a pain when playing against Wycombe. During the Wimbledon days when it was him and B [Adebayo Akinfenwa] up top, they caused us so many problems.
“He’s got a lot of quality and we’re hoping to provide him with a platform to get himself going again. He’s got a load of football left in his legs still and hopefully, he’ll come good for us.”

Lyle Taylor is one of those players whom opposition fans can easily dislike, but most would love a Taylor-like player on their side. He is the type that will get under defenders’ skin and can turn a game just by being a nuisance. It will be interesting to see how much life he has in his legs, but a cunning football brain never leaves you, and this move could be inspired for both player and team.
