Port Vale youngster Freddie Lawrie is set to become the most expensive schoolboy player in clubs history, reports Pete O’Rourke.
Teenage prodigy Lawrie, who is currently a part of Vale’s under-15 academy, is set to make a record-breaking move from the League One club to Premier League outfit Aston Villa.
The amount Villa are willing to pay for the teenager is currently unknown, but it will be the second product of the Port Vale academy to be snapped up by the Premier League after Michael Mills’ switch to Newcastle United last month.
If confirmed, Lawrie will play amongst one of the best youth systems in the UK with Aston Villa’s under-18s currently being sat in third place after three matches in their repsective Premier League.
The West Midlands aren’t the only top flight team to have spotted his ability however, with other unnamed clubs being interested in Lawrie’s signature.
Freddie Lawrie is a central midfielder currently playing in the Port Vale youth academy at under-15 level.
Lawrie has been quoted as putting in “exceptional performances” at the underage level which has attracted so much attention.
