Peterborough United defender Ronnie Edwards is being monitored by multiple top-flight clubs this summer, as reported by the BBC.
Edwards is currently on the lists of Premier League sides Bournemouth and West Ham, as well as Scottish top-flight side Rangers, who are hopeful of tempting the defender to Scotland despite the Premier League suitors.
The 20-year-old has been a mainstay in League One with Peterborough, having made 91 appearances for the Posh, with 42 of them coming in last season’s run to the playoffs. Edwards has also represented his country at youth level. He was a part of the England under-20 side that reached the round of 16 of the under-20 World Cup this year, as well as the England under-19 side who won the European Championship last year.
It is not the first time that Edwards has been subject to Premier League interest. Chelsea, Tottenham and Crystal Palace have all been linked with moves in the past, with the Hammers previously credited with an interest also. Posh have turned down bids for Edwards in the past, with director Barry Fry praising the young defender, stating he will one day reach the Premier League.
West Ham are on the hunt for a new defender and have plenty to spend since the record sale of midfielder Declan Rice to Arsenal. The side have just seen a deal for England and Manchester United defender Harry Maguire collapse and now appear to have turned their attention elsewhere toward Edwards. Bournemouth have been recruiting well this summer. They have already confirmed the arrivals of Alex Scott and Max Aarons and are reportedly also keen on Leeds United’s Tyler Adams.
Michael Beale is looking to rebuild his squad at Rangers, having lost players such as Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos. The former QPR manager will be looking to add more young talent to his side, with 35-year-old Leon Balogun joining him from Loftus Road, and Beale does have an eye for youth.

Peterborough are tough negotiators, and any move for Edwards could be pricey. However, officials at the club seem to know just how talented the young defender is, and that could mean the Posh find it hard to hold onto their star this summer with so many top-flight clubs knocking. This could be an interesting transfer saga to see develop.
