Peterborough United’s Kabongo Tshimanga has been linked with an exit, as he has been the subject of a bid from League Two side Wrexham, as revealed by TEAMtalk.
The Welsh side are currently without last season’s top goalscorer Paul Mullin, who was injured in a pre-season clash with Manchester United, puncturing his lung following a collision with the United goalkeeper. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson discussed the club’s search for cover for Mullin yesterday before the Dragons’ EFL Cup game with Wigan, stating that they ‘had a few bids on the table’ when asked about their striker search.
And it appears Tshimanga is one of those bids, with Parkinson’s side having reportedly lodged a bid of £500,000 for the Posh striker. The Dragons are still awaiting a response from the League One side to their offer.
The 25-year-old is still a relatively new face at Peterborough, joining permanently from National League side Chesterfield this summer. In the first half of last season with Paul Cook’s Spireites, Tshimanga featured 17 times for the beaten playoff finalists, scoring seven times before joining Darren Ferguson’s side on deadline day in January on loan. He featured eight times for the Posh in League One following that switch, those appearances all coming from the bench.
Despite not featuring regularly for the team, Ferguson still opted to make the switch permanent this summer. The forward was an unused substitute in the team’s opening day clash with Reading and featured in the first half of their EFL Cup tie with Swindon Town, which they won following a penalty shootout.
The 25-year-old has also featured for three other National League clubs, such as Aldershot Town, Oxford City and Boreham Wood. He began his footballing career with MK Dons.

Tshimanga is still a new face at Peterborough, which makes this an unlikely transfer this summer. With Wrexham not searching for a main striker, given Paul Mullin’s return from injury in a few months, it may be that their search is taken elsewhere. I very much expect Peterborough to reject this bid, especially when Jonson Clarke-Harris is considered transfer listed by the club, and that could see Tshimanga given a chance by Darren Ferguson.
