Chesterfield Deadline Day Departures Confirmed

Matlock Town have confirmed the arrivals of Sam Hooper and Archie White on loan for the rest of the season from Chesterfield according to the club’s official Twitter account.

Both have risen through the ranks in Derbyshire and have recently been on loan at Staveley Miners Welfare.

Chesterfield currently sit in 4th place in the Vanarama National League and will be looking to secure a playoff spot this season. They are unbeaten in five which has included wins over fellow promotion hopefuls Southend United and Woking.

Matlock meanwhile are occupants of the Northern Premier League Premier Division, the seventh tier of English football, and sit in eighth.

The National League deadline slammed shut yesterday with notable additions across the league including former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster, also now known for his YouTube exploits coming out of retirement to join Hollywood-owned Wrexham as they look to continue their push to League Two.

Following their arrival at The Proctor Cars Stadium, manager Martin Carruthers said he is delighted with the new additions.

‘It’s great to welcome Archie and Sam to the Gladiators. They are both exciting prospects and have performed well at Stavely (Miners Welfare) this season.’

He goes onto say: ‘We wanted to bolster the squad in this crucial period, and we are delighted to have secured them for the remainder of the season. Both will add creativity and energy in the run-in.’
