Notts County Forward Withdraws From The England C Squad

Notts County have today announced on the club’s Twitter that top scorer and star man Macaulay Langstaff has withdrawn from England C duty.

England C are due to play against Wales C tomorrow however, the squad has been dealt a huge blow as National League top scorer Macaulay Langstaff has withdrawn from the squad.

It’s been a pretty memorable season so far for the 26- year old scoring 37 goals so far this season, so judging by his stats, he was always going to be in England C contention.

Notts County are firmly in an epic title race with Wrexham this season, one that has truly been one for the ages down there in the National League this season. However, despite being on 91 points already they find themselves 3 points behind league leaders Wrexham with the Welsh club also boasting a game in hand on their title rivals.

There is a high possibility that Notts County could break the 100-point mark this season and still not win the title.

Notts welcome relegation threatened Scunthorpe to Meadow Lane on Saturday and in the club’s announcement have assured fans that Langstaff will be fit for this weekends clash.

It does seem, that the strikers withdrawal from the squad comes at a pretty convenient time given the position the club find themselves in at the moment but if the withdrawal is to be to protect their star man who can really blame them?

It does seem that Langstaff’s withdrawal from the squad has come with a view to protect him from potential injury at such a pivotal point in the season for his club.

However, that’s just speculation and maybe he does have a niggle that isn’t worth the risk given the title race he is wrapped up in.

It’s going to be a tough ask for Notts to catch Wrexham at the top of the National League now with the position they find themselves in but never say never stranger things have happened.
