Ipswich Town are set to play their fourth FA Cup game some time before Christmas, but as yet are not officially in the Third Round.
After a 1-1 draw with Lincoln City in the First Round, they endured 90 minutes at Sincil Bank before a last-gasp winner set up their tie with Coventry City yesterday.
Leading through a Will Keane effort, they looked to have sealed their place in the third round until a late goal from Aston Villa loanee Callum O’Hare snatched the win away from them.
That means a replay in the next ten days, with the fixtures now beginning to pile up for Paul Lambert’s men. They’re currently second in League One, but have played two fewer games than leaders Wycombe and trail by five points. They’re also into the next round of the EFL Trophy, with a game against Peterborough this Wednesday scheduled.
They’re back at Coventry on Saturday in the league, before familiarity may well breed contempt as the Sky Blues visit Portman Road for the third meeting between the two in ten days.
It’s a game these supporters feel might have been best avoided and, had they got what their endeavour deserved, might well have been avoided.
Does this now officially count as a cup run then 🤷♂️

Ah, felt we deserved a draw at very least, the worst result for both of us

Would have rather lost. Serious

Worrying that we can't find the target for the last two games, 7 shots and only one on target today, let's be honest we ain't pulling up any trees here just that the opposition is poorer, we need to get real and question Lambert on his tactics and training .

Play the kids. Find any future talent, concentrate on that league.
