Sunderland are at the Stadium of Light tomorrow night for Phil Parkinson’s first game in charge of the club.
After slipping to a 1-0 defeat against Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend, they’re hoping to bounce back in style against struggling Tranmere. The Birkenhead-based side were promoted via the play-offs last season but have looked to struggle in the early exchanges of this campaign.
With a new manager in charge and a team out of form coming to visit, the Sunderland social media department are working hard to drum up some support. Back to back defeats against Lincoln a Wycombe are not acceptable to supporters, but a full Stadium of Light can be intimidating for any visiting side.
They’ve put out a tweet featuring some goal commentary and a link to buy tickets for the game, as they’d be expected to do so. However, with a fanbase as disillusioned as the Black Cats have, it was bound to draw a few negative comments.
Some supporters are not happy at their managerial appointment and they’re not afraid to express that notion, as you’ll see from their responses we’ve found below.
Honestly, who directs the social media team at this club? 2 embarrassing defeats in a row in LEAGUE ONE and they don't have the sense to stay silent for 24 hours and let us lick our wounds
Hey guys, we go again………🙄

Is this a wind-up? Are we meant to be excited about Phil Parkinson’s first home game in charge? Stendel, Pearson, SKP maybe but Phil fucking Parkinson ha’way man #safc

Stendel is flavour of the month and Pearson is a has been??
The sooner fans realise the squad isn’t good enough to get automatic promotion the better.
