‘Daren’t show our faces in public’ – These Sunderland fans react to club’s rallying cry

Sunderland are at the Stadium of Light tomorrow night for Phil Parkinson’s first game in charge of the club.

After slipping to a 1-0 defeat against Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend, they’re hoping to bounce back in style against struggling Tranmere. The Birkenhead-based side were promoted via the play-offs last season but have looked to struggle in the early exchanges of this campaign.

With a new manager in charge and a team out of form coming to visit, the Sunderland social media department are working hard to drum up some support. Back to back defeats against Lincoln a Wycombe are not acceptable to supporters, but a full Stadium of Light can be intimidating for any visiting side.

They’ve put out a tweet featuring some goal commentary and a link to buy tickets for the game, as they’d be expected to do so. However, with a fanbase as disillusioned as the Black Cats have, it was bound to draw a few negative comments.

Some supporters are not happy at their managerial appointment and they’re not afraid to express that notion, as you’ll see from their responses we’ve found below.
