‘I’m hyperventilating,’ ‘Hand us the title now’ – These optimistic Stevenage react to latest signing

Stevenage have signed midfielder Dean Parrett after his contract with Gillingham was terminated by mutual consent.

He arrives at Stevenage for a second spell after spending two-and-a-half years at the club between October 2013 an July 2016.

The former Tottenham trainee made seventy-eight appearances for the Hertfordshire outfit before he left for AFC Wimbledon. He then signed for Gillingham on a two-year deal last summer after making sixty-seven outings in his two seasons with the Dons.

He started nineteen League One games for the Gills last season and new boss Steve Evans made it clear the midfielder was not part of his plans and his contract was cancelled.

It is not unusual for supporters to reach the heights of optimism in pre-season and Stevenage fans were dreaming of promotion when they reacted to the news of the signing on social media.

Parrett obviously made a big impression with supporters in his first spell at the club judging by their delight at the news of his return.
