‘Club is a shambles’ – These Portsmouth fans are not happy after journalist’s transfer reveal

Portsmouth will not be pursuing a move for MK Dons forward Chuks Aneke, as a host of other clubs enter the race.

Andrew Moon, a reporter with the BBC South, has confirmed that Pompey have pulled out of the hunt, as they did with Plymouth striker Freddie Ladapo earlier in the week.

In the case of Ladapo they cited the player’s wage demands, but Moon doesn’t give a reason for turning their attention away from 18-goal Aneke.

He played a key role in MK Dons charge to automatic promotion last season, having joined from Zulte Waregem in 2016. Aneke is a former Arsenal trainee who has previously impressed during a loan spell with Crewe Alexandra.

He’s now set to jump up two divisions, as a host of Championship clubs covet his services. That hasn’t pleased Portsmouth fans. Rather than seeing their club ‘pull out’ of the deal, they’re seeing them ‘missing out’ instead.

Here’s the best of their reaction from Twitter.

  1. It does see. That we are not approaching potential target signings as a club with serious Finacial ownership behind us ??? We are being knocked back “because of the wages asked by potential signings. Any club outside the Premier league would give anything to have the financial clout behind us that we have. BUT, for some reason this “clout” is not being used…….seems like the owners are happy to stay in the lower leagues…..this is not what the supporters demonstrated when they paid their own money to preserve our status as a league club !!

Come on you guys that own this great club – start investing in the team’s future.
