A winding-up petition against Bury FC has been adjourned to allow the sale of the club.
Former head coach Chris Brass originally brought the proceedings but the case has now been taken over by HMRC who are owed around £277,000.
The High Court heard three potential buyers are interested in taking over the troubled club and therefore Judge Prentice agreed to a second adjournment of the case until 19 June to allow the completion of negotiations.
In troubled season off the pitch that has seen the club struggle to pay the wages of its players and staff, the Shakers still managed to win promotion back to League One at the first attempt finishing runners-up behind champions Lincoln City.
In making his judgment, Judge Prentis said: ‘It seems to me that this is wholly appropriate, seeing as there is a chance to save this historic club.’
Fans soon took to social media to praise the judge in terms usually reserved for their worship of crowd favourites such as Danny Mayor and Jay O’Shea.
While their remains fundamental questions on how the club has been run in the past, the recent takeover and how the club will be run in the future, these fans were delighted with Judge Prentis and his decision which gives the Shakers a fighting chance of survival.
Here is a selection of their response to the decision on Twitter.

Sounds like it has gone as well as it could have done for #BuryFC so temporarily relieved. Desperately hope the club can find a buyer in the next month – credit to Judge Prentis for being aware of the emotional implications of this case, whether or not he/she's a football person. https://t.co/MuoPzLuPPC
