‘Hello National League South’ – These Yeovil Town fans react to latest takeover blow

The proposed takeover of Yeovil Town by New Orleans businessman Rob Couhig has collapsed.

A statement on the Club’s official website said it had ‘not been possible to agree mutually acceptable terms and conditions’ and confirmed the proposed sale to Couhig’s group Feliciana EFL Limited would not proceed.

The statement also revealed that interim manager Neale Marmon had left the club.

The announcement ended with the promise to supporters that: ‘The club will continue to seek potential investors whilst concentrating on planning to bounce back from relegation.’

The Glovers’ relegation to the National League was confirmed in the penultimate game of the League Two season, and they will return to non-league football for the first time since 2003.

The news left Yeovil supporters with many unanswered questions not least how the latest development conflicts with confirmation that the club had reached an agreement with Couhig in February.

It was understood the American investor would buy ninety-two per cent of Yeovil Town Holdings Ltd, which owns the football club, Huish Park Stadium and surrounding land.

Worried and concerned fans soon took to Twitter to react to the latest announcement, with the current owner Norman Haywood coming in for a large amount of criticism and concerns voiced about the prospect of a second relegation next season.

Here is a selection of their responses.
