Barnsley defender Ethan Pinnock picked up two Player of the Season awards this weekend and goes into this evening knowing he could be a Championship player by the end of the night.
Barnsley will be waiting on results from Fleetwood and Portsmouth, with the former hosting Sunderland and the latter welcoming Peterborough. If Sunderland fail to win, that leaves it a three-way fight for the automatic promotion spots.
If Portsmouth are beaten at home, they too couldn’t catch Barnsley and the promotion race could be sorted.
it’s likely to go to the final match of the season where Pinnock’s side know a win at Bristol Rovers will see them back in the second tier.
The former Forest Green man has had a sensational season at Oakwell and tweeted his appreciation for the double award ahead of the weekend’s fixture. That’s prompted delighted Barnsley fans to thank him right back.
In a side that features Cauley Woodrow, Kieffer Moore, Cameron McGeehan and Alex Mowatt, pipping all four to the awards is no mean feat. it proves the ability the defender has, a thought echoed by many of their supporters on social media.
