Walsall slumped to their sixth successive defeat at Accrington on Saturday leaving them in deep trouble at the wrong end of the League One table with four games left to play.
Two goals from twenty-year-old Stanley defender Ross Sykes either side of Nicky Devlin’s deflected equaliser boosted Accrington’s survival hopes and left the Saddlers second from bottom, three points from safety with just twelve points left to play for in the current campaign.
It could have been worse for Walsall who escaped further damage when the referee controversially ruled out a headed effort by Stanley striker Billy Kee after spotting a push.
A terrible day for the Saddlers was complete when Josh Gordon picked up two yellow cards in quick succession and was sent off with six minutes left to play.
It was Martin O’Connor’s first game in charge of Walsall following last weeks dismissal of Dean Keates, but he failed to make an impact on the team who produced a lacklustre performance in the North-West that angered Saddlers supporters, with most now resigned to watching League Two football next season.
Here is a selection of their scathing remarks on Twitter to the 2-1 defeat that places their League One safety in severe jeopardy.

These players don’t care. Put the youth team out for the last few games.

These men (carn't call them footballers)are robbing the club of wages. Sooner the club can get rid of them the better. Shameful.

Players are an absolute disgrace. We are down now so let them rot and play youth team players / anyone but these wage thieves.
