Barnsley confirm Kieffer Moore is out for the rest of the season

Barnsley have confirmed this morning that following medical advice leading scorer Kieffer Moore will miss the rest of the season.

The Tykes signed Moore from Ipswich Town in January 2018 for an undisclosed fee. He has made an immediate impact in South Yorkshire, scoring twenty-two goals in fifty-one appearances.

The twenty-six-year-old has been absent since he suffered a concussion in a clash of heads with Gabriel Zakuani during the Tykes 4-1 win at Gillingham at the start of February. The former Ipswich Town and Rotherham striker received treatment from paramedics after the incident and spent the night in hospital after the match.

Zakuani is also out for the season after he suffered ankle ligament damage as a result of the aerial collision.

Moore was in a rich vein of form before his injury, scoring five goals in six games and it was the news no Barnsley fan wanted to hear as they look to achieve automatic promotion from League One.

The Tykes are second in the table, two points ahead of Sunderland, although the Black Cats have a game in hand.

Supporters took to Twitter to express their disappointment and wish the player a speedy recovery. Here is a selection of their responses.
