Tyler Walker will serve a two-match ban after being given a straight red card for dissent as his side beat Forest Green Rovers 1-0 this weekend.
Walker seemed to make a gesture to the linesman deep into stoppage time after earlier giving his side a 1-0 lead. That prompted referee M Donohue to give him his marching orders.
That means he’ll miss crucial clashes with Port Vale and Cheltenham, both sides in the bottom half of the table. the Stags, who are fighting for a place in the League Two automatic promotion spots, are four points behind leaders Lincoln City.
They’ve got the Imps at Field Mill in a couple of weeks time and their fans seem delighted that 17-goal Walker won’t be missing that match.
He’s been incredible for them on loan from Nottingham Forest this season and could still have a key role to play in their push for a place in the third tier next season.
Here’s what a selection of Stags fans think to the red card and subsequent two-match ben imposed on the young striker.
You cant give the linesman the finger and expect no repercussions. Very silly
