Bradford City reaffirmed their long-term commitment to affordable football for the people of Bradford with today’s announcement of season ticket prices for the 2019/2020 season.
Prices have come down after a small hike last year with adults costing £150, under-16s £100 and under-11s at £25 as the club continues to lead the way in making professional football accessible to its community.
After last seasons controversy, the clubs Flexi-card system has also been returned to its original format, which means for a price of £50 supporters can secure a seat for the season and then pay a tenner on the gate of any game they wish to watch.
Despite Bradford’s poor form this season, which has led to a League One relegation battle, attendances still average 16000 at the Northern Commercials Stadium. Many supporters are incredibly proud of the initiative which has engaged Bradford City with a community which has endured economic hardship over recent times. However, some hardcore fans have complained in the past that the easy accessibility of tickets has diluted the atmosphere at the stadium. They have also argued that having season tickets so cheap hinders the Bantams attempts to invest for success on the pitch adequately.
It is a debate that goes right to the heart of what is the purpose of a football club, and there is perhaps no definitive answer. The club statement provoked some interesting responses on Twitter with the news being greeted enthusiastically by many Bantams supporters who saw it as evidence chairman Stefan Rupp and Cheif Executive Julian Rhodes were righting some of the perceived wrongs instigated by their unpopular predecessor, Edin Rahic who left the club in December. Here is a selection of their responses.

Wow … that is some offer. That’s a little over £6-50 per game if you attend them all.

Brilliant from #bcafc. Of course, I am buying one for me, one for son and one for my Dad. Bring back claret and amber stripes and I will be really happy.

Fair play to Rupp aswell, may have been Rhodes who suggested it but its Rupps investment. He could have easily said no I want to claw some of my money back. I like this Rupp fella

Brilliant. Time for everyone to back the club, Rupp and Rhodes. Mistakes have been made, but they are being corrected. Keep up the good work #bcafc
