Plymouth Argyle Set To Gain Services of £1.5 Million-Rated Ace

Leeds United midfielder Darko Gyabi has agreed a deal to rejoin Plymouth Argyle on loan, according to reports from Football Insider.

The Pilgrims, who survived on the final day of last season by a singular point over Birmingham City, will need to strengthen in all areas this summer to avoid the same feat this time around.

The attention of new manager Wayne Rooney has been focused heavily in the direction of Gyabi, who featured 10 times for Argyle last term, registering one assist. The 20-year-old would become Rooney’s second signing, after acquiring the services of wing-back Nathanael Ogbeta after his contract expired from Welsh side Swansea City.

Gyabi, who signed for Leeds from Manchester City for a reported £5 million just two years ago is currently valued at just over £1.5 Million by Transfermarkt. He has been predominantly described as a box-to-box midfielder during his career, racking up 12 youth appearances for England, scoring three times. However, under previous boss Ian Foster, the youngster was seen operating off the left side of attack, linking up with star man Morgan Whitaker before sustaining a groin injury that saw him miss Argyle’s run-in.

The Plymouth faithful have seen glimpses of what the Englishman can do, boasting his incredible technical ability on occasions & standing at 6″5 inches tall, he provides a huge presence in whatever position he plays in. But, with Foster’s tactics that riled up Home Park, it was clear the whole squad were failing to have an impact in games, with the former England youth team boss winning just four of the 17 games that he was in the dugout.

Daniel Farke and his staff are currently overseeing a massive squad rebuild, with star players such as Crysencio Summerville, Wilfred Gnonto & academy star Archie Gray all being linked with moves away to the top flight. This gives Gyabi the best chance to give Farke a selection headache ahead of 25/26 if he performs well in Devon this campaign.

For Plymouth, it would be a sensational coup if they managed to bring Gyabi back to Home Park. The profile of the player he is makes this signing a must for Rooney if he wants to succeed in management, something that he has arguably failed to do thus far.

With Leeds having a summer clear-out, it could prove to be make or break for the midfielder’s chances of breaking into the XI of the West Yorkshire outfit. There are no doubts among anyone that his future in the game could be in the top flight, but he needs to grab the chance while it’s there, and perform at a level that simply cannot be ignored by Farke.
