Former Grimsby Town Loanee Makes National League Switch

National League side Bromley have won the race to sign Luton Town striker Aribim Pepple on a season-long loan deal, ahead of this weekend’s trip to Kidderminster Harriers, as confirmed via a statement on the club’s website.

The 20-year-old will spend the entirety of the current National League season with the football club, aiming to kick on after a disappointing loan stint with League Two side Grimsby Town last season.

Who is Aribim Pepple?

The Canadian striker began his career with Calgary and Cavalry before having a brief spell with Spanish side Getafe. He arrived in England last summer, joining the Hatters from Cavalry, but within a week he was loaned out to Grimsby, where he remained until January before returning to Kenilworth Road.

The Mariners spell

Pepple joined Grimsby Town on an initial season-long loan deal, with the aim of making a significant impression in English football. However, he was instead limited to just 11 league appearances, although he did earn two assists for the Mariners.

He also made four further cup appearances, playing in a variety of different positions across the front three, which can only be a positive for the National League side.

A disappointing start

The National League side have had a difficult start to their respected season, picking up just one point from their opening three league games. This point came in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Wealdstone, after slipping to back-to-back 2-0 losses against both FC Halifax Town and Barnet.

After three games, Bromley sit 23rd in the fifth tier table, with newly-promoted Oxford City being the only club in the National League that hasn’t picked up a point so far. Bromley will take on Kidderminster Harriers this weekend, a side that have taken four points so far.

What’s been said?

Upon signing for the National League side, Pepple spoke to the club’s media team, where he stated…

“It feels good, I’m excited to get started and play some games.

“Everyone was really nice and welcoming and I just want to repay that now and show what I can do.”

Writer’s View

Judging by the social media reaction from Luton supporters, Bromley have signed a very well-respected forward, who will be eager to make a significant impression with the National League side this season.

At 20, Pepple already has a wide range of experience, featuring in England, Canada and Spain in his short-career so far which should prove to be an important asset for the club. Also, partnering with someone with the pedigree of Michael Cheek will be another contributing factor in why I think he will excel at Hayes Lane.
