Walsall target Enzio Boldewijn is set to sign for National League side Eastleigh, following his departure from fellow League Two side Sutton United, sources have informed TheRealEFL.
The 30-year-old recently confirmed his exit from Sutton United, ending a two-year stay, after turning down a new contract at the League Two side. However, a recent turn of events has seen the National League promotion hopefuls swoop in to land the winger, ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Walsall, Newport County and Forest Green Rovers were all keen to land the Dutchman this summer and held talks with the player, whilst Sutton were also desperate to retain his services, but none of the four clubs were able to land the winger for next season. This has allowed the Spitfires to step in and win the race for his signature.
Who is Enzio Boldewijn?
The 30-year-old began his career in the Netherlands, playing for FC Utrecht and then Almere City, before he earned a big career break in 2016, when he completed a transfer to League Two side Crawley Town.
He spent two seasons with the club, before completing a move to Notts County for an undisclosed fee and later joining Sutton United in 2021. During the 2022/23 season, Boldewijn made 50 appearances in all competitions for the club, contributing to three goals.

Personally, I believe this is an outstanding signing for Eastleigh, especially as they managed to fend off interest from several League Two sides, which arguably shows a major statement of intent, ahead of the 2023/24 National League season.
Boldewijn has plenty of EFL experience and is in the prime years of his career. Also, he will be linking up with the National League goalscoring machine of Paul McCallum, who recently signed for the club, ensuring their attacking options are much stronger for the upcoming campaign.
