Swindon Town forward Harry Parsons has signed for National League side Maidenhead United, upon the expiry of his contract with the League Two side, as confirmed via a statement on the National League sides website.
Parsons had three consecutive loan stints away from Swindon Town last season, but after his release was confirmed, he has been free to find a new club and has chosen his next move.
Who is Harry Parsons?
The 20-year-old was a product of the Swindon Town academy and has various Non-League spells throughout his career thus far. This includes two spells with Chippenham Town as well as various other stints.
During the 2022/23 season, Parsons began on loan with Chippenham Town, as well as stints with Banbury United and Farnborough. In total, he made 31 appearances, scoring 11 goals and assisting a further strike in all competitions.
Time to move on
Parsons has made 25 appearances for the Swindon Town first-team, but will now be moving on from the club this summer, joining National League side Maidenhead United on a free transfer. He leaves after Swindon finished the season in 10th place in League Two, 14 points off the play-offs.
Meanwhile, Maidenhead United finished 20th in the National League, two points and one place above the relegation zone. Fortunately, the side also bolstered a better goal difference, ensuring their safety for another season.
What’s been said?
The club posted a tweet on social media confirming the news, stating…
‘Dev swoops for forward Harry Parsons.
‘The former Swindon Town striker joins the Magpies on a permanent basis.’
Writer’s View
Parsons was very highly rated at Swindon Town, but struggled to make a lasting impression in the first-team, when the opportunities came his way.
Therefore, it isn’t a surprise to see him being let go by the club. He’s joined a Maidenhead side, who will be desperate to avoid relegation next season in the fifth tier.
