
Bolton Wanderers are reportedly preparing a double transfer swoop, to sign goalkeeper James Beadle and full-back Fankaty Dabo this summer, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
The club are keen to land both players, as replacements for the departed James Trafford and Conor Bradley, but face strong competition from rival clubs, including a fellow League One side for Dabo.
Who are the duo?
Beginning with Beadle, he is currently contracted to Premier League side Brighton Hove Albion and is also an England Youth goalkeeper. The 18-year-old spent the second-half of the 2022/23 season with League Two side Crewe Alexandra, keeping three clean sheets in nine league matches.
As for Dabo, he’s been with Coventry City since July 2019, making over 130 appearances for the club, becoming a fans favourite. However, his career with the club ended at Wembley, with him missing the final penalty to send Luton into the Premier League.
Promotion contenders
Bolton Wanderers reached the League One play-offs last season, following a thrilling campaign under Ian Evatt. The side finished 5th in League One, setting up a semi-final clash against Barnsley. The opening leg finished 1-1, curtesy of a Dion Charles goal, but the club were beaten at Oakwell.
Next season, Bolton will be aiming to go one better in League One, and compete for the top two next season. However, they need to strengthen where they’ve lost next season, before they begin to look at other areas in which they need to strengthen.

According to Alan Nixon, Bolton are lining up an ‘ambitious’ move for James Beadle, the that isn’t stating whether the offer is a loan move or a permanent switch.
Meanwhile, he also confirmed that Fankaty Dabo is a target for the club, but they face strong interest from League One rivals Derby County for his services.

As a Skyblues fan, either of those clubs would be a fantastic move for Dabo and would give him the opportunity to play consistently at a top level.
In regards to Beadle, he is one of the brightest youth talents at Brighton and has a long career ahead of him. Given how well the club did with James Trafford, Bolton will be an attractive prospect for any young player next season.
